28.08.2019 - Unique e-mail addresses in the system

As of now, it is no longer possible to enter e-mail addresses multiple times.

If you are creating a new customer or amending customer data and you enter an e-mail address that is already in use, you will be notified accordingly. If this is one of your own customers, the name of the customer associated with the address will be indicated. For privacy reasons, this is only the case for your own customers.

If you do not have a different e-mail address for the customer, you can leave the field blank and add an e-mail address later. However, it must still be unique in the system.

For customers without an e-mail address, you, as a distribution partner, will receive the shipping notifications.

Positive side effects:

  • If an order for a new customer has been interrupted, you can resume the order via Shop > I am buying for a new customer by entering the e-mail address previously used into the e-mail field. The system will recognise the new customer and ask if you want to continue their order. This means that you will not need to retype all of their data.
  • If the link could not be sent when placing an order for new customers paying via PayPal or credit card, you can have it sent again. Again, enter the e-mail address in the e-mail field for new customers. The system will then ask if you want to resend the link for an existing order.

For affiliate applications, the same applies. Again, you can not use e-mail addresses that already exist in the system.

Since an e-mail address is mandatory for distribution partners, you do have to enter an alternative address in this instance.
